Hello, Crewies!
Welcome to this week’s edition of Ask Ashley! You know the drill - but in case you are new here - I am the Community Manager for Crewhu. I have been in the MSP universe for over eight years, which included being a Service Manager for an MSP and implementing Crewhu to enhance our customer service and culture! So welcome, and I hope you find something helpful in this blog!
Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with some of our BADASS RAVING FANS to discuss how they utilize Crewhu to engage other departments outside the Help Desk. Not to sound like a total nerd, but I was STOKED! I love hearing how other MPSs use Crewhu, what they offer as rewards, and how this product is changing their cultures for the better. It was enlightening, and my wheels have been turning ever since.
As I have said before, Crewhu is infectious, and when implemented correctly, it can spread like wildfire, bringing new life to tired and dull cultures.
I got to learn a lot last week about the Crewhu Community & the MSP Community; here are my key takeaways:
ONE: Engagement
Using the Crewhu platform alongside your weekly/monthly staff meetings will help reinforce rewarding your staff! Harry Cusick gave insight into how they prompt their staff with specific questions and then used the badges feature to reward their crew for the correct answer! It’s genius. This allows all crew members to be engaged with the activity, but rewarding them for their participation shows that the management genuinely cares about engagement.
TWO: High-Fives/Kudos
Katrina Strozik gave insight into how they have Crewhu integrated with Teams, allowing them to give “kudos” to different crew members within the Teams platform. She elaborated on the fact that this allows her crew to be specific when it comes to using this certain badge to provide a particular type of recognition.
This is a stellar use of unique badges; not only does this allow you to reinforce certain behaviors, BUT it allows you to use our reporting feature to see who is engaging with the entire crew! Katrina also confirmed that using badges in this way has provided much more of a team atmosphere.
THREE: Colleague of the Month
Chris Maybray shared with the table that they have a Colleague of the Month contest where their employees vote for the…well…the colleague of the month! They use Crewhu to reward the winner!
This is another excellent example of ways to engage different departments and have your crew find ways to engage with each other. Giving your staff a common goal and adding different criteria for achievement allows growth.
FOUR: Contest with Teams
This was a crowd favorite; Brent Yax told the gang that he and the Leadership team have contests using their Core Values. Brent explains that they put together interdepartmental teams with about 15 or show crew members, and then whatever team receives the most badges for that core value is rewarded. This is a great way to engage and build team relationships outside the normal Help Desk. Also, allows management to reinforce positive behaviors and showcase the values that mean the most to a company.
FIVE: Contests around Documentation
It is no secret that documentation in an MSP can change quickly or become outdated. It can be a real mess if it gets out of hand. Tyler Gibbs discussed using the Contests Feature integrated with IT Glue to engage other departments. This allows other members of the crew to be rewarded for cleaning up and organizing documentation.
I love this idea. Having this type of contest open to all departments allows genuine teamwork. Also, it helps take the pressure off just one department to maintain and update every document in the system. Contests like these always impact the individual employee and the company.
