The Weekly Win: Game On

Welcome Crewhu-ers! Thanks for stopping by and reading this week’s edition of the…

🎆THE WEEKLY WIN🎆

I am excited to write about this week's topic, Gamification, and showcase why it is this week’s weekly win. Hang on to your office chair as we Mario-jump into GAMIFICATION (woohoo!).

Gamification’s origin story starts with Nick Pelling. In 2002, Pelling coined the term “gamification” while designing “game-like interfaces” for commercial electronic devices. From there, in 2010, Jane McGonigal delivered her TED Talk, Gaming Can Make a Better World, which became a defining moment in the history of gamification—subsequently making gamification a new “household” name. In 2015, Millennials EAT IT UP. Human Resources Departments launch gamification trials to address engagement issues within the workforce.

In 2013 Crewhu launches Contests, their version of gamification - Introducing it to the wild and wonderful world of MSPs.

The idea is genius; the tech channel is filled with people who love gaming in any way. Not just video games but sports, card games, etc...… the concept is easily adaptable to any environment.

Achieve your goal - be rewarded. Simple.

Last week, we launched some new contests internally (yes, Crewhu uses Crewhu 😉), and I got to see some magic happen. Not only was the staff excited about gamifiying their work, but they also had ideas on how to make the contests work or other contests that we could utilize down the road. It re-ignited engagement on many different levels. It was pretty badass to see.

So, we start these new contests and find new ways to cheer on our peers. The results of the contests are posted in the Slack Channel, and then the staff comments, celebrating those achievements! It’s awesome. Another reason why I love this product, we bring the human back to the workplace.

So…was this super informative? No. However, gamification is something magical within the workplace, and it really can showcase how your staff is reaching their goals. Healthy competition never hurts. Gamifying your metrics is a win-win-win for you… your staff… and your clients.

Here are some resources to help you on your journey for adding Gamification…AKA… Crewhu, to your stack!

Until Next Time, Crewhu-ers! Stay frosty.
